Cool is one of my favorite songs in the movie! Along with Jet Song, Maria, Tonight, America, I Feel Pretty and Somewhere. I just don't know how Robbins was able to tell the story through his expertise in dance. It's amazing

I had the pleasure of being in a production of Listen to My Heart several years ago. Licensing was directly through David Friedman, not a big house like MTI. If we needed different keys to songs, he was an email or phone call away to send us new music. To date, this has been one of my favorite productions. We upped to cast to 4 women and 3 men just to spread the love around a little more. If you get the chance to sing any of this music, do it. Also, Nancy Lamott will break your heart every time you here her sing any of David's songs.
My favorite scene (Besides Somewhere) has to be the "Dance at the Gym."

I liked Ice's version from the movie better. It personifies the character better and it's established early on in the movie that he's Riff's second-in-command, unlike Action, who is too hotheaded to be a real leader.
Exactly. This broadway renditions of the song are charming, but none even come close to the theatrical version in my opinion.
Agreed. I also like how in the film version they switched "Cool" and "Gee Officer Krupke".
Action has composure issues. That's his flaw. Riff is trying to teach composure here, which didn't prove to be useful after he died.
I never seen the original stage version so I cannot compare. Also, the reason I'm here because Tro Shaw who played Anybodys in this revival is playing Judy Haynes for the 5th time next month in my hometown's production of White Christmas.
Of course Nancy LaMott was one of a kind and her performances will never be repeated. But that being said, this cast and this production of the show (which we now are doing all over the country) sheds its own extraordinary light on my music that I've found extremely gratifying, and audiences seem to feel the same way.
